Overview
An HP Proliant Server with a SmartArray Controller keeps rebooting continuously, and you find an event similar to the following for it in the syslog file: hpsa <PCI-Address>: Abort request on C1:B0:T0:L0
This issue can occur due to several reasons. One of these reasons is a faulty storage disk. This article shares the process of diagnosing and resolving this issue if it is occurring due to a defective storage disk.
Process
Follow these steps to determine which storage disk is causing this issue if at all:
- Execute the following query to view the detailed status of your SmartArray Controller and its physical drives:
hpacucli ctrl all show config
- Review the query results and identify the physical drives with failures. Consider the following example, where a physical drive (highlighted in red) is showing a failure.

- Replace the drive with the failure to resolve this issue.
