Applying Different LGP Configurations to a Server With Multiple LGP Instances

Overview

There can be more than one instance of LGP running on the same server. You might want to change a parameter in only one of the LGP, e.g., reducing the period of the lgpdbcleanolderthan field for just one LGP database.

This article explains the steps and recommendations for changing the configuration for one LGP in a multiple LGP environment.

Information

It is possible to have different configurations for every LGP.

  • If multiple instances of LGP are running on the same server, then the lgpdbdatabase must be specified in the host-specific configuration file, and two NMM users must not use the same lgpdbdatabase.

Hence in a multi-instance setup, the user must specify these parameters in its host-specific file and ensure that the non-textpass user does not use the LGP database.
  • The host-specific configuration file contains parameters for a specific LGP and is located at /usr/TextPass/etc/<hostname>_config.txt, where <hostname> is the hostname of the LGP.

  • There is also a common configuration file with the parameters that are common to all LGPs. This configuration file is located at /usr/TextPass/etc/common_config.txt.

  • The configuration parameters can be placed in either file. In case of a conflict in the settings of a parameter, the host-specific configuration file always takes precedence over the common configuration. This is the reason why you need to modify the host-specific configuration file in a server with multiple LGP instances if the configuration is not common to all the LGPs.
