SNMP Trap Alarm: 'SCF address has become unreachable'

Overview

This article explains the meaning of the SNMP trap alarm: SCF address has become unreachableThis section also provides a command to check the status.

Information

The SCF unreachable alarm indicates that an SCF node used in the CAMEL charging procedure has become unreachable. This is related to the SS7 network and must be investigated by the SS7 Network Core team.

Since the SMSC is usually configured with multiple SCF nodes, one node being unreachable does not impact the traffic.

Solution

Use the following command to check the status:

$ tp_walkall --tp_pbc | grep -i scf

Output:

pbcScfGlobalTitle.1 = STRING: 543200710728
