Empty Originator Number in an LGV Query Output

Overview

Sometimes, you may see the originator Number field is empty in an LGV (Log View) query output.

This article provides information on the reason why this issue occurs and how to access the originator number if you experience such an issue.

Root Cause

This issue occurs for alphanumeric addresses, like those of WhatsApp or UBER. This is expected behavior as the originator Number field is populated when the originatorAddress is a GsmAddressInfo. The originator address with an alphanumeric format goes to a different field in the log records, which is not displayed in the output summary by default.

Resolution

To access the originator Number for an alphanumeric address, expand the output record by clicking on the plus sign (+) on the MGR GUI. Alternatively, you can download the table data as a CSV file.

Note: This issue is not related to the CDR record. The LOG records are not used for billing. An empty originator Number in the LOG does not mean that the origAddressGSM in the CDR is empty.
