Explaining the SNMP Versions Supported by Lithium

Overview

This article explains the SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) versions used by Lithium components.

Solution

Currently, SNMP v1 is used to configure and monitor interfaces, system states, and settings between Lithium components. SNMP v2 is used to send traps to external servers, like alarm stations. Version 2 of the SNMP protocol is used with a “public” / “public2” community string.

For more details about the use of SNMP in Lithium nodes, please read the attached NMM_SNMP_Trap_Reference_Guide_17.4_rev_a manual.
